Prefequity backs buyout of Southbay Civil Engineering

Prefequity is delighted to announce it has completed an investment in Southbay Civil Engineering, the leading marine engineering business in the North East of England. The investment was made alongside Simon Orange, the well-known Manchester entrepreneur and founder of CorpAcq.

Southbay is a civil engineering contractor specialising in marine environments. It delivers design-and-build projects across the UK, including quayside and jetty repairs, steel piling, flood defences and coastal works for ports, local authorities and major contractors.

Theo Dickens, Managing Partner at Prefequity, commented: "Southbay exemplifies the type of business we seek to support. Based in the North East and working for clients across the UK, it holds a dominant and defensible position in a niche market with attractive growth opportunities."

Simon Orange commented: "Southbay is an exceptional business led by a highly experienced management team that values its engagement with the local community. I'm pleased to have partnered again with Prefequity, who have provided a flexible funding package to support Southbay's next stage of growth."
